FAQs

Do you only do home delivery, or can I collect my produce from you?
Yes, you can! In fact, we prefer our customers to collect their produce from us or from one of our pickup points. This helps us reduce time on delivery, which means we can spend more time doing what we love, which is to grow more vegetables. Choosing to pick up your produce rather than have it delivered will always remain free! Furthermore, customers who choose to pick up from the farm are always invited to walk around and see how we do things.

Can I choose what goes in my weekly box?
We pre-plan our weekly boxes the week before delivery based on what is available on the farm. If you chose a medium box, you can swap out two items of your choice for anything else available on the farm at the time. A small box has the capacity for one swap a week. This is a great choice for busy people who are happy to receive a share of the produce we offer every week. If this is not enough choice for you, you can 'create your own' box by adding whatever you fancy to your basket every week. This is a bit more 'hands on', as you need to log on to our website every week to choose what you would like for your order. Please bear in mind that we always prioritise our boxes when stocking our shop, so not everything will be available every week.

Why is there a reusable bag charge in my basket?
Our boxes (or rather, veg bags) are delivered to you every week in our reusable hessian bags. Each customer gets assigned two bags on their first order, which will be labelled with their name. These are yours for as long as you decide to buy produce from us. We ask that you leave your old bag out for us on delivery day, or drop it off at your collection point when you pick up your produce. At the end of the season, if you choose to return your bags, you will receive a full refund for them. You can also keep them and use them at home!

If you have already been charged for two bags but there is an additional charge in your basket, this might be that you have not been returning your bags every week. As we need packaging to deliver your produce with, you might be charged for additional bags we need to use. Again, you will be fully refunded at the end of the season for every bag you return

Is all the produce you sell grown by you?
Yes, absolutely! We pride ourselves for only selling what we can grow on the farm. This means that we are really limited by the seasons - peas will only be available in late spring/early summer, tomatoes in summer and pumpkins from autumn, all from our two acres of land. Hours of planning, planting, sowing, weeding and harvesting go into our season, all to bring you tasty produce at the peak of freshness with as low food miles as possible!

Is everything certified Organic?
Yes! Oakcroft Market Garden has been certified organic with the Soil Association for more than 60 years, making it one of the oldest organic holdings in the country. This means that everything we produce from Oakcroft meets all criteria to be certified as organic. We get audited twice a year by the Soil Association to ensure we are adhering to all their principles. The one non-organic product that we occasionally sell in early spring is wild garlic. This is foraged from our woodland which is not included in our certified land. All foraged wild garlic will not be labelled as organic and will lack our certification logo.

How long do your boxes run for? Can I buy from you in Winter?
Our boxes run from early June until December (or when the frosts and cold weather do not allow us to continue!). During this period, we have the largest range of produce available for our customers to purchase via our boxes and farmer's markets. We close the farm from Christmas until mid-January, when we take a much-needed break to rest and visit family. From February onwards, we start selling again but at very limited capacity, with produce being mostly limited to greens and salads. We generally do not have enough variety to supply a full veg box, so you will find our produce at some of our local shops to enjoy over the cool months. We are considering a small greens box for early 2027, but it is still to early to say if these will be available.

When should I expect my produce to be delivered?
Our current delivery day is every Thursday. We have a lot of deliveries to make, but you should expect your produce to arrive by lunchtime. You will receive a knock on the door, and if you are unavailable, your produce will be left at your doorstep or your designated location. We recommend leaving us detailed instructions of where to leave your produce so that it is kept cool and fresh for when you return home. You will receive an email notification when your produce has been delivered. Please ensure that you leave out your old veg bag for us to collect for your next order.

If you are collecting from the farm, you can arrive from Thursday morning to collect your produce at your convenience. Upon your first collection, you will be shown where your produce is kept for you to collect every Thursday. If you are collecting from one of our pickup points, you will receive a notification of when your produce has been delivered for you to collect. Please arrive within opening hours to collect your produce.

I am planning a holiday. Can I pause my subscription?
Absolutely! Simply click 'Pause Deliveries' in your basket, or go to 'Holiday Management' in your Account to add the dates that you are away for. You will be notified that you have a holiday booked by email and your regular orders will be paused until your return.

I'm having trouble putting in my card details. Can I pay by cash?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept cash payments as all transactions are made via our website. We occasionally come across some issues with customers signing up to the website and adding their payment details. If this is the case with you we recommend:

  1. Trying to add your payment details using a different browser
  2. Trying to add your payment details using a different device
  3. Clearing cookies on your browser
  4. Ensuring you do not have 'pop-ups' blocked on your browser- this will block the pop-up required for two-factor authentication for adding your card details
  5. Try an alternative method for authenticating your card details.

If you are still having trouble adding your payment details, please don't hesitate to contact us! We will try our best to assist you and troubleshoot what is happening and get our technical team involved. We can also organise a phone call to guide you through the process if preferred.

I'm having trouble adding my address to the system. Can you help?
Similar to the question about card details above, try using a different browser or device. If you are still unable to do so, please send us an email with your address. We can manually add it to the system for you!

How do 'Dislikes' and 'Likes' work?
We highly recommend that you notify us of your 'Likes' and 'Dislikes' in your account. This is incredibly valuable information for us when it comes to organising your order before we deliver. Our system will automatically swap out anything you don't like for things you have 'Liked' in your account. It will also notify us of any of your dislikes that we might have put in your box, so we can swap them out manually on packing day. It is incredibly important to do so if you have any allergies or intolerances, for example, onions. You can also go a step further and notify us by email so we can take a note on our system to not supply you with a specific product. We will do our best to accommodate you.

Can I visit you on the farm?
Yes, of course! We love meeting our customers and get the chance to talk about our work. We ask that you send us an email first to organise a visit. We are often very busy and whizzing around the farm and are not always able to receive guests, especially on a time-sensitive harvest day. We are also not available on weekends as we are away at market and the farm is closed. The best days for a visit tend to be Mondays and Tuesdays, but if you are a customer and picking up your produce from us on a Thursday, you are more than welcome to walk around the farm.
