Ground Cherries

Ground Cherries are an unusual speciality that we grow at Oakroft. Also known as physalis, this variety is a cousin of the cape gooseberry. But whereas shop bought cape gooseberries are sour and usually used only as an adornment to a cheeseboard, these little 'paper lanterns' are truly delightful. They are a real treat and taste marvelously tropical, like a mixture of pineapple, melon and vanilla. We only grow a token amount of these so they will never appear in our boxes, but you can always add them onto your order!
