Cabbage, Chinese/Napa

Chinese cabbage, also know as Napa cabbage due to its barrel like shape, is a much beloved Asian delicacy. It is not too similar to our traditional western cabbages and has a slightly sweet flavour and tender texture. It's incredibly versatile in the kitchen. Traditionally,it is stir fried lightly to keep its tender texture, or is the star ingredient in Kimchi making. But you can use it in many ways- soups and stews, shred it and eat it raw in salads and sandwiches or turn it into an incredibly delicious coleslaw where the sweeter flavour of Napa cabbage adds depth and flavour. We love using the leaves to make a variation on dolma- wrapped parcels filled with rice, meat or cheese. Generally, substitute it for any recipe that calls for green cabbage! Our Chinese cabbage can be quite large! Many of them can be 1+ kg!
