Delicious, freshly picked eating apples. Apples, although a staple in our British diets, are usually underwhelming when bought in supermarkets and green grocers. This is because even though apples are only seasonal in autumn, they are usually sold all through the year. In order to achieve this, apples are generally picked underripe and stored for months so that they can be sold at any time. Although that increases our access to this fruit, it does rob them from the exceptional flavour of a freshly picked apple. We do not store our apples, and instead pick them fresh and sell them within a week of harvest. This means we can pick them fully ripe, with maximum flavour for your enjoyment. They then are sweet and floral and really moreish. Unfortunately, we do not know what our apple varieties are. When we moved to Oakcroft, we inherited a small apple grove. Variety names have been lost, but they are all delicious.
